Hi and welcome to CRYSTALEYE Australian Shepherds. We are nestled on 1.5 acres of suburban land in lovely Eglinton a suburb of Bathurst NSW.

My doggy interest prior to Australian Shepherds had always been German Shepherds which I had owned and bred for 8 years.

I was first introduced to the world of Australian Shepherds about 9 years ago by Jan Kelly who arrived at our local obedience club with a beautiful blue merle male with ice blue eyes named BJ - Australian Champion Leesway Blue Jeans CD. From that moment I was fascinated by the look of the breed, their playful temperament and their intelligence and devotion. I was determined that my next dog would be a blue merle male Aussie with blue eyes. It didn't quite work out that way though and I have no regrets.

Jan advised me that Mandy Lees (LEESWAY KENNELS) had a black tri female available that was 16 weeks of age. I drove to Duffy's Forest Sydney convinced I wouldn't be bringing her home. Jan let me borrow a puppy crate "just in case". When I arrived Mandy welcomed me into her home and there at her feet were two chubby black tri girls playing and wrestling each other. The little one that would become my Matilda looked up at me and immediately my heart and head were thinking please let it be the little dark faced freckly one. I have heard of instant love but had never felt it until that moment. I look at Matilda now eight and a half years later and still feel the same.

Of course there was absolutely no question about it. She was coming home with me. And that's how it all began........
